Sideboard: Sapele & Maple
33"H x 28.5"W x 17"D
2022
This dresser cabinet is made from two different species. The leather handles compliment the sapele used for the body and soften this mid-century modern design along with the edge rails on the top, making it feel a little rustic. The spalted maple used for the drawer/cabinet fronts contrasts against the sapele used for the body, drawers and legs. This contrast is made more apparent with the chosen finish. A oil based 5% white was used for the maple, preventing it from yellowing while a pure mixture was used for the sapelle which has a warmer tone. This was my first large scale project made entirely of hardwood. I milled the lumber to thickness and glued the boards up to create all the panels. Plywood was only used in the drawer bottoms. No metal hardware was used for the joints, they are held together with glued rabbit joints and dowels for drawers. The angled legs elevate the piece adding a dynamic element while making it feel lighter.

Maple & Walnut Butchers Block

Jack O'Lanterns
An update on an ol’ classic, these rustic wooden lanterns will never rot or end up as squirrel fodder. I made them out of oak pallets that were sitting in my basement. I squared and planed the wood before constructing a series of hexagons to stack on top of each other. The faces were cut with a jigsaw and the corners flattened to soften the overall shape. A hole was cut at the top so the lid can be removed to place a battery operated or traditional candle. Contact me if you want to commission one for your home this halloween!

None of the wood has been stained but finished to bring out the natural quality of each species. Perfect for bedside reading or setting ambiance in any room. Mini Metropolis
Sometimes it’s hard to throw out those precious scraps from various projects. I used cut-offs and pieces of various hardwoods to create this little city display. In some cases I cut details into the pieces to represent architectural elements. Some of the wood grain reminded me of water so I added some sail boats along the shore. This city has wood ranging from spalted maple, zebra wood, oak, cedar, ash, walnut, yellow heart to ones I can’t identify. Measures 9"W x 6"H x 6"D.

Spalted Maple Tissue Boxes
Tired of looking at those ugly cardboard patterns, I decided to create a box cover that would be timeless, and match my decor. Each box is unique and built to last. Chamfers along the edges elevate it off the surface while giving it a modern ascetic without feeling too boxy. Just remove the top panel that is cut to match the opening to easily replace the box when empty. Finished with a hand rubbed oil they retain their natural look and feel while enhancing the stellar grain patterns.

Coat & Key Rack
This coat rack complete with mirror is made from ¾" walnut plywood. I cut kerfs on the back side to bend the wood to the desired angle. A little water helped the convex bend from snapping. The side pieces hide the edges and add support. I hung it with a french cleat for easy installation.

Blanket Ladder
Measuring 5’ tall by 2’ wide, this blanket ladder narrows at the top creating a modern look. Made from ash with 1"' walnut dowels for the rungs.

Cimena Dresser
32"H x 54"W x 17"D
2019
This dresser was my first woodworking project. I wanted something modern but rustic where my collection would be hidden but easily accessible. I couldn’t find anything that matched what I was looking for, so I decided to try building it myself. The body is made of mahogany plywood with ash hardwood for the drawer fronts. I used gold hardware for the feet and handles.
